

Born in Paterson, New Jersey on October 23, 1929 Vera was a graduate of Clifton High School where she excelled in acrobatics and dancing. She was a devout Catholic. Her faith guided her with strength and comfort in the vocations of wife and mother. Alongside the partner and love of her life, Walter, through sixty years of marriage, Vera raised five children and was blessed with eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A talented artist, Vera had a passion for painting: acrylic, oil, and Japanese Sumi-e, which reflected her creative spirit. Her art was a testament to her love of nature. Today many of her works hang in the homes of her friends and loved ones. She found community in the friendships she created in her painting groups.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, and son, Craig, whom she loved dearly throughout her life. Vera is survived by four children: Ruth Anne, Mary Alice, Christine, and Mark; eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Vera Davis will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her love, love of her family, deep faith, and remarkable creativity as an artist. Through the tender mercy of the Lord, may she rest in peace.
A rosary will be held for Vera on Monday, July 29, 2024 at 9:00 AM at St. Joseph's Historic Church, 4214 Loretto Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32223, with a funeral mass at 10:00 AM. She will then be buried at H. Warren Smith Cemetery, 1538 N 2nd Ave, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.
