Verla "Penny" Margaret Ross

ROSS - Verla “Penny” Margaret Ross, 100, passed away on July 30, 2018 in Jacksonville. Penny was born on March 4, 1918 in Crescent City, Iowa to William Dalton and Dessie Small Dalton. She was blessed with over 100 years during which she had a wonderful life being married for almost 50 years to Daniel Ross who died in 1986 and raising two daughters. She had resided in Callahan since 1991. Penny was a member of Friendship Alliance Fellowship Church. She was always very active with family and loved to bake, especially breads, cakes and pies. Being very crafty she enjoyed beautiful crocheting as well as quilting. She was predeceased by her parents and five siblings

Survivors include her large family of two daughters, Sharon Propper (William) and Shirley Lynch; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ross will be held 11:00 am on Friday August 3, 2018 in The Chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32211 with Pastor Tim Carpenter officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Arlington Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials in her name to The Bryan Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, 2200 W. Main St., Suite A-200, Durham, NC 27705.
