Victoria (Vicki, Meemaw) Kaniosky Davis Cooper peacefully passed away May 2, 2012 after a lingering illness. Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Vicki was the youngest of six children born to Anna and Max Kaniosky. In 1926, the Kaniosky family moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where Vicki spent most of her life. In 1939, at age 16 Vicki graduated with honors from Andrew Jackson High School. Vicki retired from Prudential Insurance Company after working 28 years as an executive secretary. Of her favorite words, Vicki often used 'adored' to describe her joyful love of life. She adored her family (especially her seven grandchildren), a multitude of life-long friends, the Ponte Vedra Club, whiskey sours, chardonnay with strawberries, and adored making 'hankie pankies' and devastatingly good buttermilk pies. She adored Elvis and all strong-jawed hunks of mid-century, and approvingly adored men with nice looking legs, a thick head of hair, and respectable-sounding names. She was an engaging and vivacious story teller whose infectious optimism permeated all of her relationships. Her favorite topics of discussion included; college football as a long time Florida Gator fan, soap operas, politics, and recently read books and newspaper articles. She adored stylish clothing, impeccably decking out her petite frame whenever she had the chance, topping the look with very high heels. Her laughter was of the kind that knew the power of delight and that she thirsted for more. She adored being told she was adorable, and we will always hold her so in our hearts. Vicki is predeceased by her first husband and father to her two children, Bradley H. Davis, her second husband, James Cooper, her brothers Carl Kaniosky and Joseph Kaniosky, and her two sisters, Veronica Kellen and Mary Johnson. Vicki is survived by a sister Helen Cain of Portland, Oregon, her son Bradley J. Davis and his wife Lan Kennedy-Davis, her daughter Debbie Davis, her previous daughter in law Joyce Davis, her seven grandchildren, Kimberly Werner Garner, Lori Werner Miller, Natalie Werner, Brooke Davis, Victoria (Torie) Davis, Carly Davis, and Meghan Kennedy-Davis, five great grandchildren, 9 nieces, and 10 nephews.
Vicki leaves her family and friends with memories of strength, independence, adventure, fun, laughter, love, great stories, and a zest for “living life to the fullest”.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church,121 East Duval Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32202, in memory of Victoria Cooper.
In accordance with Vicki's wishes, the family will honor her in a private ceremony. A celebration of Vicki Cooper’s life will be planned at a later date.
