POSTEN – Virgil Edward Posten, Jr., 66, passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 at his home after a lengthy illness. Born in Cordova, AL he served in the US Marines from 1966 – 1970, including 1969-1970 in Vietnam. He and Peggy Clark Posten married in 1970 and he retired from US Gypsum as a supervisor. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, chess and time on his computer. He will be remembered as a devoted husband and wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His surviving family includes: his wife, Peggy Posten; a daughter, Mary (Michael Yeargin) Posten; a son, Christopher Posten; 2 sisters, Gail Jones and Karen Suits; 3 brothers, Paul, Dennis and Doug Posten; 3 grandchildren, Michael, Caitlyn, and Douglas; and a great granddaughter, Eryka. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 12 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave. Cremation will follow.
