Walter Cornelius Furlong

FURLONG - Walter C Furlong Jr, 90, went home to be with the Lord on March 13th, 2017. Walt was born on February 10th, 1927 to Walter and Carrie Furlong in Bronx, New York. Walt served on the USS Santa Fe for the United States Navy during WWII. He later married Mildred Ann Stoess in 1954 in Clarksville, Indiana. Walt and Millie raised 4 children, moving to Jacksonville, Florida in 1972. Walt was a loving husband and father, WWII veteran, retired pipefitter, proud grand and great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Carrie Furlong; sister Barbara Hartman and wife Mille Furlong.

Walt is survived by his children Lillian Erami (Mohammad),Walter C. Furlong III - Skip (Stella), Janet Moore (Sam), Stanton Furlong (Kayti); his grandchildren Walt Furlong IV; Charles Furlong (Jackie), Simeen Erami ; Chris Furlong, Sohaila Erami (Fardin), Ardy Erami, Matt Furlong (Ashley), Josh Furlong (Sarah), Greg Moore (Jessica), Katie Furlong, Zach Moore, Tyler Short and Marquee Moore; great-grandchildren Eli Furlong, Sawyer Hayes, and Abigail Furlong; many nieces, nephews, friends and family.

The burial ceremony will be at 10:30am on March 27th at the Jacksonville National Cemetery followed by a time of fellowship at the Flamingo Lake Resort Recreation Center. Walt was often described as a man who would give you the shirt off of his own back. In lieu of flowers or donations, please honor Walt’s memory by sharing a random act of kindness for someone in your path. This would please him and honor his memory more than any other donation that could be made.
