Walt was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on May 18th, 1930 to George and Katherine Jamieson and grew up with his sister Kathleen in Glasgow. He served in the Royal Air Force, working in accounting as a young man and immigrated to the United States in 1961 as part of his long career working for Lloyds of London as the Manager of Maritime Shipping in New York. Walt and his family lived on Long Island, New York after immigration until moving to Salsbury, Connecticut after Margaret’s passing. While living in Connecticut, Walt attained his US citizenship, an achievement he was very proud of.
Walt retired to St Augustine, FL in 1995 to be closer to family and to be closer to the ocean, as he loved being at the beach. He loved breakfasts with his family, English food, single malt scotch, doing the New York Times crossword, feeding the birds in his backyard and his Tuesday and Friday trips to Publix, where all the staff knew him well. Walt was also a regular at the Kings Head British Pub, where he was always well received and is honored with his own personalized Pilsner beer glass.
His sharp sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
