

Walter Curtis Normington, 83, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017. Walt served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He met his future wife, Marian Elizabeth Sewell (Libby), while stationed in Arlington, Texas. They were married in 1955 and subsequently moved to Jacksonville.
Walt attended Jacksonville University and was employed by the Griffco Aluminum. During his career, Walt was part of the design team for several Jacksonville landmarks; designing the decorative aluminum vents for the Haydon Burns Library and the unique hexagonal windows in the Universal-Marion Building.
Walt is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Libby Normington; daughters, Meredith (Normington) Brasca and Marian Elizabeth (Beth) Normington; son, Mark Sewell Normington three grandchildren, Kyle Normington, Shelby Normington, and Crystal Coffin, two great-grandchildren, his brother, William Normington, and his Maine Coon cats, EddyPuss Rex and Tiger Paw.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Jacksonville Humane Society, 8464 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32216.
