

Born in Cedar Key, Florida, Jack lived in Jacksonville for over 85 years. He was a decorated member of the United States Navy and served in the Pacific Theatre in World War II. Jack worked for many years as a food broker with Ashford-Stokes, and served as an elder at St. Johns Presbyterian Church.
Jack was predeceased in death by his parents, Thomas and Jane Stokes, Sr., as well as his siblings: T.K. Stokes, Jr., Juanita Lent, and Mary Ella Sessions. He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Lude G. Stokes; daughter, Nelle Stokes Butcher; son-in-law Jeff Butcher; and grandsons McClain and Jacob Butcher, as well as a loving, extended family and many close friends.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday Feb. 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Johns Presbyterian Church 4275 Herschel St, Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, it was Jack’s wish that memorial donations be made to St. Johns Presbyterian Church, or the charity of choice.
