

Wilhelmina “Mina” Elbers, 55, went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 15, 2011. She was born on October 6, 1955 in Jacksonville, FL to William Alfred John Elbers and Mary Louise Parrish Elbers. After an accident in 1972 that left her paralyzed, she finished high school with the assistance of a private tutor. She went on to FCCJ and then to University of North Florida where she obtained a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology. Her various jobs included private practice, counseling children at risk, families in crisis and family members of hospice patients. Throughout forty years of being a quadriplegic, her strong faith sustained her against numerous challenges.
Mina is survived by her brother, William Alfred John Elbers, Jr. ; sisters, Patricia Ann DuBose (Darold), Mary Frances Moore (Henry L. III), Nancy Louise Kelley (Leonard), Victoria Elaine Skelton and Pamela Sue Svendsen; nephews, Stephen DuBose, Brian and Sean Kelley, Raymond and Jason Skelton, David Quigley, William Alfred John Elbers, III and Gunnar Svendsen, III; nieces, Denise Picus, Christie DuBose and LeAnna Elbers; plus numerous great nephews and great nieces and wonderful friends.
The family visitation will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Hardage-Giddens Edgewood Funeral Home, 729 S. Edgewood Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32205. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, 10:00am at Oceanway Assembly Of God, 12240 Sago Avenue West, Oceanway, FL. Interment will follow at Parrish Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL.
