September 25, 1942 – January 15, 2026
William M. “Mike” Brown, 83 of Jacksonville, passed away at his home on January 15, 2026. Mike was known for his sense of humor, kind heart, and love of a good game of golf. He especially adored his black Labrador, Buddy, who seemed to only listen to his dad! Mike and his family were longtime members of Lakewood church.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, James Garbutt Brown and Mary Grice Brown, and by his brother Jim Brown. He is survived by his sister, Claudia Tharpe. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he was fond of, especially his beloved niece, Catie.
Mike attended Dupont where he proudly played the clarinet in the school band. He later continued his education at Georgia Tech. He joined the United States Army, where he served in Korea in the 1960s. Mike built a successful career with BFE Corporation, where he served as Vice President of sales, working in the global aircraft parts industry. In his later years, he enjoyed meeting people while working as a taxi driver for Gator City.
Mike met the love of his life, Renee, at the airport, and the two were married in 2001 at the Lightner museum in St. Augustine, FL. Together they raised Sarah, Renee’s daughter, whom Mike loved as his own. He delighted in being part of Sarah’s life, and she loved him deeply as her father.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Feeding Northeast Florida.
