Eddie served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Machinist’s mate from 1979 to 1982
He began his career at the Naval Aviation Depot, Jacksonville, FL in 1982 where he was employed as a Preservation Operator in the Engine Compressor Shop. Eddie’s intellect and skills quickly rewarded him his next promotion as an Engine Mechanic. He continued his career development as his knowledge and experienced earned him further promotions to Examiner & Evaluator (E&E) and later, Planner & Estimator (P&E) supporting multiple engine programs. Eddie played a key role in a public/private competition proposal for the J52 Program. Eddie’s hard work resulted in the depot contract award of significant J52 workload. In 1996 Eddie was promoted to Engine Program Manager for the J52 Engine team. Eddie also led the TF34 Engine Team for the Navy and Air Force TF34/F1D2 Inter-service programs. When Eddie took over as Program Manager for TF34 the Fleet was faced with 56 bare firewalls (aircraft without engines) and the Air Force Program had a shortfall of spares. Due to Eddie’s program management skills the program well exceeded its War Readiness Engines goal. Eddie’s commitment and dedication to the Fleet was evident by his work ethic. In 2005 Eddie was promoted to Deputy Program Manager for Engines. Eddie was responsible for engine repair operations at FRCSE that integrated all cross functional elements required to repair F414, F404, TF34 and J52 engines, modules and components. Eddie worked diligently at creating high performance teams. He demonstrated his leadership skills when he facilitated the EA-6B Prowler J52 engine war room meetings. The outcomes from the war room efforts contributed to the success of Operation Enduring Freedom. In July 2009, Eddie was assigned to the Industrial Business Office as a Business Management Specialist overseeing the Engine Division. Eddie developed outstanding relationships with the depot’s partners: General Electric, Pratt & Whitney, Honeywell, and Tinker Air Logistics Command. Eddie also led the implementation of the Depot Source of Repair decision to repair the Joint Strike Fighter’s F135 engine at FRCSE. Eddie served over 30 years of service at Fleet Readiness Center Southeast depot. He was a respected professional and friend to the aviation community.
