

William Ray Deem, 86, of St. Augustine, Florida died peacefully on May 24, 2014 with many of his family members with him. Bill was born October 6, 1927 to Dennis and Zola Deem in Bloomington, Indiana. Bill served his country and community in many capacities. While serving the United States Navy he received both the American Theater Medal and a World War II Victory Medal.
He also served as President of the Board for Citizens General Hospital of New Kensington, Pa. for many years.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Purdue University and playing on a football scholarship, he went to work at Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation in Pittsburgh, Pa. Bill stayed there for his entire career holding positions as Manager of Industrial Relations, several different Plant Manager Positions and finally retired as the Vice President of Employee Relations and Union Negotiations.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Patricia; his children, Karen Tutwiler, Bill Deem (Amy), and Sharon DiFilippo (Armen), his grandchildren: Warren, Doug (Paige) and Will Tutwiler; Austin and Francesca Deem; and Kaileigh, Alexa and Armen DiFilippo. He is also survived his three sister’s, Doris Goode, Martha Newland, Beverly Cruise.
Bill was predeceased by his son, Navy Ltd. Douglas C. Deem; son-in-law, Warren C. Tutwiler; and brothers, Richard and Herbert Deem as well as his parents.
A Memorial service will be held at ten o’clock in the morning on June 7th in the Chapel at Glenmoor , 235 Towerview Dr. , St. Augustine, Fl. 32092 at The World Golf Village, where Patty and Bill have lived for the past 6 years. Military Honors will be presented graveside at Oaklawn Cemetry at 2:00 o’clock the same afternoon.
