

on May 8th, 2011. He was born in Atlanta, GA, son of the late William H. Garvin, Sr. and Amy Slate Garvin. William graduated from Emory University School of Medicine in 1944. He served his country twice, first in the Army during WW11 and later in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. A decorated veteran, he attained the rank of Major in the Air Force. Later, he established a very successful Dermatology practice on Jacksonville’s Southside. Dr. Garvin was a long time member the Jacksonville Dermatological Society. He was also an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church.
Dr. Garvin was an avid gardener and enjoyed researching family genealogy. He was widely read on a variety of subjects. Members of the Seven continent club, Dr. and Mrs. Garvin traveled extensively visiting many remote areas of the world.
Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, Sarah Cochran Garvin, two sons, William H. Garvin III (Shawn A. Landrum) and David C. Garvin, two grandchildren, Alexander W.
Garvin and Sarah H .Garvin and many dear friends.
The family will receive friends on May 13, from 6-8 pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL. The funeral service will be on May 14, 2011 at 11:00 am in the chapel at the funeral home. A reception will follow at the funeral home.
