William Michael (Mike) Holland went to be with Our Lord Jesus on Nov 7, 2025 after a valiant fight with cancer. Through it all, he kept his positive attitude, his big smile and great sense of humor. His life was a testament to faith in God and spreading the love of Jesus to anyone he met. He was a giant lover and our family will not be the same without him.
Mike was born Aug 12, 1958 in Portsmouth, VA. He lived in Norfolk with his mother Viletha Linda Holland (Lane) (deceased), his father Glenn Allan Holland (deceased), and his beloved siblings, Terrie Jo Despres (Larry), Glenda Faye Rogers, (deceased) (Bert), Cathy Lynn Wagar (Steve) and Glenn Allan Jr (deceased). The family relocated to Jacksonville, Florida when he was about 12 years old. He attended Oakwood Villa, Lake Lucina and Terry Parker High School making lifelong friendships at all. He was especially proud of his stint as patrol boy and then later his part time job at the Thunderbird Hotel and Dinner Theatre washing dishes. He took his first full time job at Crown Products and went on to work for Key Houston inside of the Bellinger Shipyards learning the welding trade. He landed his dream job as a welder fabricator at Ring Power Caterpillar and made great friends that he considered family. He retired after 26 years and started his own company and worked for another 7 or 8 years all over Jacksonville.
He met and married his love, Patricia Therese (Wheeler) in 1981 and together they began what he considered his greatest accomplishment, his family. Stephen Michael (Dawn), Michael Christopher (Inji), Benjamin Douglas (Danielle) and Elizabeth Ann (Ben). In the early years he held crying babies, changed diapers, told stories and sang songs. He never missed work and often worked 2 and 3 jobs to make ends meet. He volunteered to coach T-Ball at SYAA and ended up coaching through the age levels for about 15 years. He took many teams to championship levels in Fla Minor Major, Babe Ruth, AABC and American Legion. He loved the kids and they loved him right back. He enjoyed fishing, football, (The Gators), pickup basketball games, horseshoes, kickball you name it. Later on he took up golf as his favorite thing to do.
Mike loved talking to friends (or strangers) outside the minute market, family gatherings, work parties, and was just another big kid at the beer pong games in the backyard. He always managed to talk to everyone around and provide all the relentless teasing you could take. He helped anyone that needed it and loved to pass out new testaments to people on the street regardless of their appearance. He really wanted to pray with anyone that would. He wrote down their names (only he could decipher) and prayed for them at night.
Mike leaves behind 11 grandchildren: Tristan Holland (14), Levi Holland (7), Lincoln Holland (6), Elise Holland (3), Scarlett Holland (10), Benjamin Holland (8), Sophia Holland (6), Olivia Pukay (10), Emma Pukay (5), Benjamin Pukay Jr. (2), and Brooklyn Pukay (6 mos.) He also very much loved all of his many nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation for Mike Thursday, November 13th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32211. A funeral mass will be held the following morning at 10:30 AM, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 742 Arlington Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32211.
