

William R. Stacy, Jr. (Buddy), age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida’s McGraw Center with his wife of 64 years at his side. He was born in Bolivar County, Mississippi in 1927 to the late William R. Stacy, Sr. and Lou Zella Stacy. He came from a large family of 13 children. He grew up working in the cotton fields of Mississippi and knew what it was like to perform a hard day’s work. He was drafted into the US Army Air Forces in 1946 and served until his Honorable discharge in 1947. He married the love of his life in 1950 and began a family which grew to 6 sons. He moved his family to Jacksonville in 1960 in pursuit of work. He was a lifetime member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades and retired from Center Brothers. He was preceded in death by two sons, William Dereck Stacy and Thomas Keith Stacy. He is survived by his wife, Edna Lane; and sons Buster (Marion), Greg (Linda), Mike (Jeannie), Jeff (Kristie); daughter-in-law, Cheryl; eight grandchildren, Timothy, Crystal, Dallas, Dereck, Skyler, Chelsea, Josh, and Hannah; and one great-grandchild, Amelia. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 1:00pm at Hardage-Giddens, The Oaklawn Chapel with the Reverend Tommy Stacy officiating.
