William "Jerry" Watson

Jerry was born on December 14, 1956, in Jacksonville, Florida, to James Charles Watson, known as "J.C.," and Jerrie Darrow Watson. As a young man, he earned the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout, a reflection of the dedication, leadership, and character that would guide him throughout his life.

Jerry devoted his career to public service at the Florida Correctional Institute, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. During his years of service, he was honored for his bravery and quick actions in saving a person's life while on duty. He retired after many years of faithful and dedicated service.

Jerry had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed camping and hiking in the mountains. He was also known for his adventurous spirit and his love of the open road, often taking long drives across the country to visit family, explore new places, and enjoy the beauty of the nation he loved.

He is survived by his sister, Peggy Watson Scitticatt and her husband, David Scitticatt; his nephews, Joseph Brian West and James Charles West; his niece, Diane Carole Evans and her husband, David Shawn Evans; along with other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Charles "J.C." Watson and Jerri Watson.

Jerry will be remembered for his loyalty to his family, dedication to his profession, adventurous nature, and the kindness he showed to others throughout his life. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Jerry's life and to share in remembering the many wonderful memories he leaves behind.
