

Wilma Presley Ketchel, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on April 8, 2024, at the age of 98. Born on November 3, 1925, in Zebulon, Georgia, Wilma lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. Ketchel, son Neil Deering Lawrence Jr, grandson Stanley J. Pokrywka,III (Trey) , parents Winwright Dawson Presley and Corine Whatley Presley and sister Janie Long. Wilma is survived by her loving children: Carol Lawrence Adkins of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Susan Lawrence Flansburg (Richard) of Jacksonville, Florida.
Wilma's legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren: Shawn B Page (Tina) of Dallas, Texas, Jason L. Flansburg, and Brannon M. Flansburg of Jacksonville, Florida; Brian Lawrence (Leanne) of Kure Beach, North Carolina; Clint Lawrence (Kim), Neil D Lawrence III (Trey), and Ron Lawrence (Gail) of Houston, Texas; Scott Pitts (April) of Knoxville, Tennessee; and Priscilla Paesano (Andrea) of San Antonio, Texas.
In addition to her grandchildren, Wilma leaves behind a legacy of great-grandchildren, including Jacob and Joshua Page, David and Jonathan Lawrence, and Benedetta and Marcello Paesano and Laina, Loralee, Vince, Amy, and Rebecca Lawrence.
Wilma is also survived by her stepsons: The Honorable Terry Ketchel (Carolyn) of Shalimar, Florida, and Marc Ketchel(Karen) of Gainesville, Florida. She will be fondly remembered by her step-grandchildren, Micah, Andrew, Shanti, and David Ketchel.
During her working years Wilma worked for Guaranty Life Insurance Co and was the district Manager for the first All Women’s District in Jacksonville. She later worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield until her retirement.
Wilma enjoyed watching college football and was an avid Florida Gators fan and her and her late husband, Roy held season tickets for many years. She also had a great passion for golf and it was not only a source of enjoyment in retirement, but also a testament to her skill on the course. Her dedication to the sport was rewarded with not one, but two remarkable achievements - she achieved two hole-in-one shots, demonstrating her exceptional talent and adding an extra layer of excitement to her love for golf. These rare accomplishments were a source of pride for Wilma and brought joy to those who shared in her passion for the game. Her enthusiasm for golf added an extra sparkle to her vibrant personality and created cherished memories for her family and friends. Wilma also had a deep passion for traveling throughout the country and volunteering. Wilma shared her love for travel with her late husband, Roy, embarking on adventures together that enriched their lives with unforgettable experiences and cherished moments. Furthermore, Wilma dedicated her time and energy to serving others through her volunteer work at St. Vincent de Paul and was an active member of Assumption Catholic Church until her later years. Her commitment to helping those in need exemplified her compassionate nature and left a lasting impact on the lives of many. Wilma was a beacon of strength and kindness to all who knew her.
Mass for Wilma Presley Ketchel will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Assumption Catholic Church, 2403 Atlantic Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207 at 1:00 PM. Following the service at Assumption Catholic Church, Wilma Presley Ketchel will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32207. The burial will take place immediately after the service, allowing family and friends to gather one final time to pay their respects and bid farewell to a beloved individual who touched the lives of many.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Vincent de Paul.
