Winifred Rowand

Winnie was born in St. Augustine, Florida on February 3rd, 1927. She had many wonderful years in St. Augustine, then moved to Jacksonville in 1960. She was the wife of a US Navy veteran, regularly attended San Jose Episcopal Church and was a member of Rebekah Lodge in St. Augustine, FL.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband James C. Rowand, parents Walter and Winnie Birkett, two brothers Bud Birkett and Bobby Birkett, and her sister Edna Barnes. She is survived by 3 sons, James (Linda), Donald (Cathy), and Thomas (Donna) as well as 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law and multiple nieces and nephews.

While her first love was always her family, Winnie also enjoyed crafting, sewing, crochet and her beloved black Labs. In earlier years she enjoyed travel, camping in their pop-up camper, bowling, Bingo and card games. For years she enjoyed helping her husband make hundreds of toys which benefited local charities.

A visitation for Winifred will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Legacy Lodge, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, Fl 32207. A funeral service will occur Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM, Fr. Steph Britt officiating, with interment to follow in Oaklawn Cemetery with reception in the Lodge.
