Winifred McKinley Slade

Wynell graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, and then attended Stetson University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree. Wynell was employed for several years at Barnett Bank before staying home to raise her daughters. She began working as a secretary at Lakewood United Methodist Church in 1990, and then retired from that position in 2000. She loved Jesus and was an active member of Lakewood for more than 40 years.

Wynell is predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Robert “Bob” Slade. She is survived by her two daughters, Stacy (Jonathan) Scott, Shannon (Mark) Allen, grandchildren, Conner and Caelan Scott, Holden Conner, Matthew (Sarah) and Andrew Allen, great grandchild, Adeline Allen, sister, Kathy Newsom, several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Benton House (St. Johns) and then San Jose Gardens for the loving care they provided to Wynell until her death.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 23rd, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 6133 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida. Memorials in her name may be given to Lakewood United Methodist Church.
