OBITUARY
Walter McCallister
November 3, 1946 – November 12, 2012
Walter David McCallister, 66 of Jacksonville, passed away Monday afternoon at his residence. Dave was a retired Gunnery Sergeant in the Marine Corps. He was also a Purple Heart recipient and a Vietnam Veteran who proudly served his country.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents, Alferd McCallister and Sinnia Foster McCallister, brothers Elmer and Carl McCallister, and sisters Macil Bayer and Mary Ervin.
He is survived by his wife Arnetta McCallister of Jacksonville, sons Jeffrey McCallister, Steve McCallister, and Craig McCallister all of Jacksonville and Joe Marshall (Lisa) of Sneads Ferry, brothers Lewis McCallister of Newport, NC, Clarence McCallister of Hubert, NC, Delbert McCallister of Sanford, NC, Basil McCallister of S. Charleston, WV, and Robert McCallister of St. Albans, WV, sister Darlene Ellis of Holly Ridge, grandson Sean Marshall, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Dave will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Jacksonville on Thursday from 11 AM to 1 PM. Services for Dave will follow the visitation at 1 PM on Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Damon Lee of Victory Baptist Church officiating.
Interment will follow the service at Seaside Memorial Park in Swansboro.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victory Baptist Church or Liberty Hospice in his memory. Arrangements by Johnson Funeral Home of Jacksonville.

Dave, You were a good Dad to many in addition to your own sons. You and are Arnetta are wonderful grandparents to Sean Marshall and kids of Marines across the US. Thanks for adopting a school teacher and her sons when we needed you. Love- Judi Marshall Appel
