Obituary of Evelyn Rose (Dickey) Gilbert
Evelyn Rose (Dickey) Gilbert, went home to be with God on the morning of Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis at the age of 76. Evelyn was born in Jasonville on May 7, 1936, the daughter of the late Renos and Susie (Secrest) Dickey. She was united in marriage to her husband, Stanley H. “Tuffy” Gilbert on May 16, 1953. Together they shared 53 years of marriage until he passed away on February 15, 2007. Evelyn was a devoted servant of the Lord, and attended the Emmanuel Apostolic Church in Hymera. She enjoyed cooking, canning and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. Evelyn was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister aunt and friend. She was a friend to all and will be deeply missed. Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Whitney Gilbert of Lewis; special grandchildren, Karla Frazier, Lydia Quick, Brian Gilbert, Patricia Johnson, Trevor Gilbert, John Boy Fulk, Quentin Gilbert and Ian Gilbert; great-grandchildren, Trent McCammon, Olivia Quick, Hayley Quick, Megan Gilbert, Noah Gilbert, Alexis Fulk, Jonathan S. Fulk, Morgan Johnson, Austin Johnson, Cadence Gilbert, Wyatt Gilbert, Waylun Gilbert, Miriam Gilbert, Amelia Gilbert, Brylee Gilbert and Estrella Gilbert. Evelyn also leaves behind three brothers, Paul and wife Liz Dickey, Delbert and wife Sharon Dickey, Gary and wife Neoma Dickey; one sister, Virginia and husband Joe Johnson, along with several loving nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, Evelyn was welcomed home to heaven by her two children, Stanley Earl Gilbert and Brenda Baker, along with her sister, Monda Simpson. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until Evelyn’s Funeral Ceremony at 1:00 p.m. in McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home, 631 E. Main St., Jasonville. Rev.
