Bernice Guthrie Alexander, 82, of Fultondale, born in Townley, went to live with her Lord and Savior on April 9, 2017, at St. Vincent’s Hospital. She was surrounded by her loving family. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at 11 a.m., with services following at 1 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Guthrie Cemetery. Dr. Doug Moore will officiate. Born Oct. 6, 1934, in Townley, she is predeceased by her parents, Olen Guthrie and Gracie (Romine) McGough of Townley; her late husband of 55 years, W.J. “Boots” Alexander of Fultondale; and her son, Danny L. Alexander of Fultondale. Survivors include her son, Dennis J. (Lisa) Alexander of Fultondale; brother, Billy Joe (Janice) Guthrie of Dora; and sister, Barbara Gail (Jim) Jones of Townley; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family members, as well as her adored pet: Sassy (dog). Bernice was an amazing and much loved wife and mother. She joined with her husband, Boots, in the ownership of Mack’s Garage. She loved being a homemaker and caring for her family.
