Mrs. Bessie Jones Odom

Bessie Jones Odom, 95, of Parrish, passed away Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, at Ridgeview Health Care Center in Jasper. The family will receive friends today, Oct. 7, 2014, from 4 until 7 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be today, Oct. 7, 2014, at 7 p.m. in the Kilgore-Green Chapel with L.T. Gurganus officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope of Hay Valley. Odom was a longtime member of Mt. Hope Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Odom; son, Warren Odom; parents, A.J. and Dollie Jones; brothers, Pickens Jones, Chester Jones, Floyd Jones, Clyde Jones, Fred Jones, and Cleve Jacks; and sisters, Bashie Stewart, Florence Boykin, and Pearl Garrison. She is survived by her children, Peggy Wallace (Ralph), James Lloyd Odom, Michael Odom, Cathy Richie (Ronnie), Dianne Dawkins (Robert), and Richard Odom (Sue), all from Parrish; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Suite C 2132 McFarland Blvd. East, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
