Betty Joyce McKenzie

She was born in Oklahoma, to Albert Baird and Portia Terry Baird. Later she moved to California where she met the love of her life, Stuart McKenzie. Later in life, they moved to Alabama and decided to move back to California, to the desert, at 29 Palms. They worked together side by side doing military jobs and later started their own business. Stuart passed and Betty worked and continued to live in their adobe home; they so loved. She decided to go back south to Jasper, AL, where she grew up as a young girl. She made many trips from Jasper to California to visit with family members after this move.

She is proceeded in death by her loving husband, Stuart McKenzie; children, Renee Buckles, Sean McKenzie and Heather Tagita; granddaughter, Kiera McKenzie; her loving parents, Albert and Portia Baird; sister, Loretta Hallowood; grandparents, Henry and Samantha Black Baird and Ellis and Leaty Garner Terry; in-laws, Elmer and Bess McKenzie and Jamie McKenzie.

She is survived by her children, Debbie Hamilton (Junior) of Jasper and Gary McKenzie of Weldon, California; grandchildren, Tony Hamilton (April), Jamie Hamilton (Sabrina), Cody Hamilton (Samantha), Tiffany Holyook (Dusten), Marc Buckles (Adriana), Johnny Tagita (Holland), Nick Tagita (Valerie), Ian McKenzie and Mike Devineo; sister, Carolyn Tharp; in-laws, Carol Jones of Quartzsite, AZ and a host of family and friends.

Betty attended Mount Vernon Church for many years until getting around became harder. Although getting around was hard, her love for the Lord never wavered as she stayed in the Word daily. She will be deeply missed. She loved her family and they all loved her dearly.
