Charles Neil "Chuck" McKellar

He was born to James L. and Merle McKellar on July 30, 1930, in Loma Linda, CA. He grew up in Michigan. He served his country in the Korean War by enlisting in the U.S. Navy. While serving, he met and married Mary Catherine “Cathy” Howell and celebrated their 71st Anniversary in October.

Mr. McKellar graduated from the University of Tennessee in electrical engineering and started with the Alabama Power Company in 1958 in Tuscaloosa, AL and retired 30 ½ years later in Jasper, AL as superintendent in the downtown office.

Mr. McKellar was a member of the of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and once served as president of the Parish Council. He was a Charter Member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Council 8551 Assembly 2466. He once held the office of President of Kiwanis and Jasper Jaycees and served as State Vice President for the Jaycees.

He is Preceded in death by his parents James L. and Merle McKellar.

Charles is survived by his wife Mary Catherine McKellar; children, Catherine Cagle, Linda Lewis (Ray), Tim McKellar (Tammy) and Tom McKellar (Lori); seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, with burial at Oakhill Cemetery.
