Dewey Rickey Roberts

Rick was a lifelong dog lover who cared for at least 16 over the years, many of them rescues. He had a deep appreciation for nature, spending much of his time camping, exploring the Smokies, or hiking his favorite local spot, Thompson Creek Trail. He also loved books, old radio shows, and comics.

Rick was devoted to his family and cherished time with his son and grandchildren. He was a natural with children: always patient, consistently positive, and forever young at heart.

After 46 years apart, Rick reunited with his first love, Rita Jean Roberts. They spent the final five years of their lives together before she passed away in March 2025.

The family will be holding a graveside service Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 11 a.m. Kevin Stanford will officiate.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Jean Swindle Roberts; parents, Melvin Dewey Robert and Norma Sue Roberts; and grandparents, James Hiram Roberts, Laura Timer Cain, Vester Roy Nelson and Kathryn Blackwell.

He is survived by his son, Forrest Rickey Roberts (Mackenzie); and grandchildren, Forrest Riker Roberts and Colette Roberts.
