Doris married to Almus in May 31, 1952, for about 45 years. She was a good mother and grandmother. With a faithful sweet spirit, she played the piano for many churches including Life Springs Assembly of God. She was known as “Momma Doris”. She loved playing for the Sonshine Singers and visiting patients in all the surrounding nursing homes. She married Clarence Farley in 2002; they enjoyed traveling and volunteering at Walker Baptist Hospital. Her last year of her life she loved living at Harbor Chase Assisted Living. Mom would always say she was “short and sweet and sweet and low”. She was a talented angel that touched many lives with her laughs and smiles. We will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Almus A. Gilbert and Clarence A. Farley; parents, William Frank Weeks and Libbie Hanna Phillips; sister, Martha Goodson; and in-law, Max Goodson.
She is survived by her children, Debra Maddox (Mike), Vickie Gilbert and Allen Gilbert; grandchildren, Jamie Blair, Josh Gilbert (Dana), Jacob Gilbert (Brittany), Jessie Gilbert, Mick Maddox; special grandson, Jim Fincher; great grandchildren, Blain Gilbert, Mickenzie Maddox, Brantley Gilbert; sister, Frankie Webb (Gerald) and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Salvation Army, Walker County Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
