Mr. Edward Blanton

Edward Leon Blanton Age 75, of Oakman, AL Died Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness. Edward retired from AT&T after 23 years of service as a Long Lines Operations Technician serving the Jasper office. Prior to AT&T, he held several positions with the Arrow Shirt Factory as Store and Receiving Clerk and as the Purchasing Agent for the Jasper location. Edward enjoyed his work in the Midway Church of Christ where he served in the role of a Deacon for 26 years and 14 years as an Elder. He enjoyed serving within the local congregation and helping others. Visitation will be Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home from 5:00 -7:00 PM; funeral services will be immediately following visitation at 7:00 PM in the chapel by Richard Rogers and Mark Howell. Graveside services and burial will be at the Midway Church of Christ cemetery Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11:00 AM by Mark Howell. Edward was preceded in death by his parents; Lynn Blanton and Loucille Myers Blanton of Oakman, Father and Mother-in-law; Jettie and Kathleen Hoobler of Jasper, Brother and Sister-in-law; Jim and Miriam Hoobler, and nephew; Kevin Hoobler of Jasper. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Patricia Ann Hoobler Blanton, daughter, Catherine Denise Gann (Keith) of Jasper, a son; Jeffrey Lynn Blanton (Kelly) of Oakman., Grandchildren; Jared Nathan Gann (Heather) of Oakman, Caitlyn Elise McCaleb (Hunter) of Adamsville, Anna-Catherine Gann of Jasper, Brandon Edward Blanton and Kara Lynn Blanton (Clayton) of Oakman. Greatgrandchildren; Braden Keith and Camden Ryker Gann, Hadlee Elise McCaleb, Matthew Leon Blanton and Kaylee Ann Blanton, Nephew; Keith Hoobler, and special friends Steve Tubbs, Gail Bice, Scott Peters, and Ginny Roberts of Comfort Care Hospice.
