Romie, Sammy and Jerry,

I just heard the news that Mama Lee has moved into her heavenly mansion.

Forty-one years ago, as a 17 year old new Yankee kid in town, Mama Lee instantly stole a ginormous chunk of my heart. She was the first southern momma I met. How I envied both Sammy and Jerry! That first night of meeting, not only did she teach me it was OK to eat pork chops with your fingers, BUT from the get-go, she made me feel like I mattered.

Over time, she drilled into my head several blunt, yet inspirational quotes. My favorite was "If you think you can.... you can. If you think you can't.... you're right." Lord only knows how often those words have helped drive me through a seemingly impossible situation. Over the years, without hesitation, I've been privileged to pass the same quote on to others. Those of whom, has also taken the opportunity to do likewise. 

The point is, even though she likely didn't give it a second thought when passing on her words of wisdom, a generation or so ago, there is a good chance, the few minutes she took to share a positive affirmation may very well continue to make an impact on others in the future. 

Last year via email, I asked her if she remembered sharing that quote. She quickly affirmed that she remembered and added: â€œThere is one more that I like and it is, "if your thinking is stinking... then so is your life". Instantly I remembered why I loved her from the get-go. This dainty little lady was not only kind, but she was strong and fearlessly bold. One never had to wonder where they stood with her. She was someone I truly admired.

Without a doubt, you've heard â€œI'm sorryâ€ umpteen times this week. I too, join the chorus. ALTHOUGH... I'm so very happy for her! Just think, if we all are willing to take her lead, to walk by faith the road that leads to Heaven, the next time we see her smiling face, the word goodbye will be obsolete.

We love all of you so much and pray that God's peace will be with you knowing she is now happy and healthy and we'll see her again! Love Tina and Scott Lambert

Our condolences and prayers are with you and the family. Eleanor was an extremely friendly and caring person. I met her several times at the Odom Grocery when home for the decorations and thought she was sister to Ms Odom, she was always very helpful in selecting my flowers. Later Ms Odom told me she was Romie wife. She will be added to our prayer list.
