
Florence M. Burnett Florence M. Burnett, 89, of Cordova, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Cordova Health Care. Funeral services will be held at graveside today, July 1, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Walker Memory Gardens with Ronnie Poore officiating. “Flossie” the nickname given to her by her daddy, was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a faithful member of Cordova Church of Christ, where she taught bible classes for many years. She spent many summers cooking for the campers at Indian Creek Youth Camp. She was a homemaker by choice, enjoyed gardening, walking, reading, and babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each one had their own name for her…. “MaMaw”, “Granny”, “B” and recently “Ganny” by her great-great granddaughter. She was always helping others and busy doing God’s work. She always had a kind word, a smile and a gentle sweet spirit that will be long remembered by those who loved and knew her. Burnett was preceded in death by her parents, Marrion and Tressie Haddox; sister, Geneva Holt; and first husband, Wallace Ritch - MIA in WWII. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Ottis “Spec” Burnett of Cordova; daughter, Bonnie Poore (Ronnie) of Cordova; son, David Burnett (Donna) of Parrish; grandchildren, Lisa Ware (Jacky), Debbie Reed, and Matt Burnett; great-grandchildren, Jerica Ware, Jordan Reed, Jaron Ware, and Justin Ware; great-great-granddaughter, Parker Ware.
