Illa Dean Pierce was born to John W. and Ethel Bowen Pierce on July 5, 1938. The second daughter of four eventual children. Much like the day before her birthday, July 5, Illa Dean had quite the independent spirit, especially in her younger years. She was born and raised in the Walker County/ Carbon Hill area. After high school and her marriage to Bob Clark, the couple traveled with Bob’s job before returning to their roots in Carbon Hill, so their kids could go to school and she could work nearby. Maintaining a job in a local insurance agency thru much of her life. Growing up and working in town, Illa Dean knew everyone, even if they were not relatives. Raising her three children Robert, Annah Lee and Chad was her purpose, and she served that purpose majestically. After claiming she prayed-up daughter in law Tanya Allred for son Chad, and Annah’s marriage to Greg Moore, life’s blessings lead to three grandsons. That revitalized her purpose. Seth Moore, Kaleb Moore and Kasey Clark, and with Seth’s marriage to Erica Martin, all four became further recipients of her love and prayer. With Erica and Seth’s marriage came one of her greatest gifts to date, Everrett Rusell Moore. A blessed light in her twilight years. Illa Dean was many things; friend, Christian, sister, daughter, granddaughter, aunt, grandmother, mother, wife, caregiver, pray warrior, and a beloved child of God. She would happily tell you she chased Bob Clark in her youth until she caught him. After 63 years of marriage, a year and a half after Bob’s passing, Illa Dean, once again happily chased him right into Heaven’s portal on December 27, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clark Sr.; parents, Ethel and John William Pierce; siblings, John Allen Pierce and Yvonne Herron; grandparents, Daniel Ralph Bowen and Willie Ann Bowen; brother in laws, Thomas Lee Clark, Bobby Herron, Paul Jordan; sister in laws, Myra Sue Clark and Louise Clark.
She is survived by her children, Robert Clark, Annah Moore (Greg), and Chad Clark (Tanya); grandchildren, Seth Moore (Erica), Kasey Clark, Kaleb Moore; great grandson, Everett Moore; sibling, Carolyn Jordan; in laws, Genny Pierce, Sheila Clark, and Cotton Clark.
