James R. Baughn, 75, of Jasper, joined his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 23. J.R. retired from Alabama Power Company, where he was a unit operator at Gorgas, and an electrician at Smith Dam, among other roles. He enjoyed hunting, diving for the rescue squad, fishing, traveling to the Gulf and Western U.S., and talking with other ham radio operators.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 Tuesday, May 26 at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home in Jasper. Services will follow at 2 o'clock, and will be officiated by Pastor Norman Payne. Graveside prayer will follow at New Prospect Cemetary in Jasper.
J.R. was preceded in death by his parents, Ottis L. and Inez Baughn. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lynda, poodle Princess, daughter Sandy (Lee), grandson Brandon, sisters Kathryn (J.C.) Gant, Wanda (Gerone) Dyess, Venita (Eddie) Carmichael, nieces and nephews and their families, and friends.
