Jessie Lee Mitchell

Jessie Lee Thomas Mitchell, 94, of Townley, died Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Ridgeview Health Services. Family will receive friends Monday, December 11, 2023, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Service will follow at 2 p.m. with Kilgore-Green Funeral Home directing. Burial will be at Guthrie Cemetery. Billy Butler and James Wright will officiate.

Jessie was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church for many decades and a current member of Carbon Hill Church of God Prophecy. She worked at Townley School for many years where she made an impact on many children. She loved spending time with her family and going to church. She had countless friends and was a Granny to everyone. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lloyd Thomas “ Buddy”; her son, William Gary Thomas “Red”; parents, Dewy and Dena Hodge; siblings, Mary Trujillo (Bonnie), Henry V. Hill, Tilda Marie Williams, Thomas Daniel Hodge “Buddy”, and Robert Hodge; grandparents, Paralee and Henry Swindle; in laws, Maude Rilla and Curtis Thomas.

She is survived by her children, Linda Joan Sparks (Wayne), Larry Allen Mitchell, and Barry David Mitchell; grandchildren, Brandi Lively (Jack), April Yancey (Tim), Brittney Johnson (Zach), Leith Mitchell (Madison), Bradley Mitchell (Brooke), Alyssa Looney (Josh), Michael Sparks, Kimberly Franklin (Darrin) and Renee Cheatham (Chris); and a host of great great great grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
