Mr. John William Chamblee

John William Chamblee, 84, of Jasper, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, at Walker Baptist Medical Center. Family will be receiving friends on Friday, Jan. 17, 2020, from 9 until 10 a.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 10 a.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel. Graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m., at Alabama National Cemetery of Montevallo. John was born July 16, 1935, in Quintin, Ala. He graduated West Jefferson High School and Wallace Community College. After High School, he joined the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. After he retired from the military, he was self-employed as a project engineer. He worked/volunteered at Sheri’s One Stop in Cordova for over 10 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie D. and Ruby Chamblee; stepmother, Eddis Colburn Chamblee; siblings, Geneva Chamblee Fowler, Elizabeth Chamblee Peterson, Clarence Chamblee, Charles Chamblee, Frances Chamblee Frost. He is survived by his wife, Vanessa Thornton Chamblee; children, Thomas Chamblee (Sheri Phillips) and Leslie Jay Huffstutler (Shari Hicks); grandchildren, Jessica Madison (John Wesley), Denise Smith, Meagen Chamblee, Joshua Taylor (Brittaney), Zachary Huffstutler (Caylie) and Alex Huffstutler; great grandchildren, Saban, Cody, Jacob, Brantley, Alexis, Kali, Jake, John Luke, Layla Mae, Colton, Shyanne, and Drake and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
