John Arthur Wade, Known by most as "Art" and lovingly as Papa Art by many, leaves behind a legacy of compassion, and love. His passion for life, creativity, love, and spiritual fulfilment will live on in the memories of the hundreds of lives he touched. His greatest passion was people. Whether you knew him from Boy Scouts, powwows, paranormal investigation, art galleries, charity events, wedding officiating, crafting classes, video gaming, or through his devotion to God as an ordained Anglican priest, he had an ability to just make you feel at home with him. He was everyone's Dad, and everyone's best friend.
Art was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He loved to cook, go camping, fishing, and create art. He taught beadwork and lead cultural demonstrations for schools and libraries across the state. He was on the Elder's Council and was the leader of the Warrior's Society for his Cherokee Tribe. He was a member of the Powwow drum team "Walking Thunder". His name is on Mars on the Curiosity Rover, and his memory is forever written in the stars and in the hearts of those who were blessed enough to know him.
