
Lee Swann Lee Swann, 81, of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Boyd and Dr. Dennis Culbreth will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 21 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Swann was born in Sipsey and grew up in west Jasper. He attended Walker County High School, Walker College and Auburn University. Lee served his country in the U.S. Army and spent the majority of his career in the financial services industry. His true passion was for his community and serving others. Lee was fortunate to serve as a council member for the City of Jasper for 24 years and was always grateful for the opportunity. Lee was a member of the Masonic York Lodge 211 in Jasper for 50 years and a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonary. He was also an active Shriner for several years. Swann was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Wesley Swann and Annie Woods Swann; 11 brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Judy McDanal Swann; daughter, Lee Ann Swann; son, Robert Swann (Amy); granddaughter, Payton Gartman; sister, Mary Darty (Harvey); a host of nieces and nephews; and Jeff Chambless, Tammy Wyers and Gail Bice of Comfort Care Hospice. Pallbearers will be Ben McLeod III, Johnny Bagley, Kenny Brakefield, Steve Brakefield, Jim Brakefield, Midge Johnson, Wendell Powell, Tommy Knight, Jim Lanier, Keith Pike, Johnny Rollins and Morris Studdard. Honorary pallbearers will be current and former city of Jasper mayors and council members and current and former city of Jasper employees.
