Lorraine Catherine Young Kiefer

Lorraine Catherine Young Kiefer, went to be with the Lord May 24, 2021, surrounded by family and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 28, 2021, from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m., at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, with Kilgore-Green Funeral Home directing. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m., at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, burial at Walker Memory Gardens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Christian Kiefer; daughter, Diane Lynn Kiefer Gilliland; parents, John C. Young and Eva Marie Bourgeois Young; and great-granddaughter, Hadley Elizabeth Benson.

She is survived by her son, Christian Gerard Kiefer and his wife Gena and their daughter Kristin; Lorraine's daughter, Karen Lynn Kiefer Benson, her husband Anthony and their son Tony Benson (Liz) and daughter Sarah Gilchrist (Scott); and Diane's children Ric Gilliland (Amber), and Jessica Morrison (Anthony) as well as 7 great-grandchildren.

Lorraine was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, July 19, 1931. She was a true New Orleanian and remained there until she married her soulmate John in 1953. They arrived in Alabama in the 60's and landed in Jasper in 1968. In her active years she and John were very involved members of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. Her faith, vibrant spirit and New Orleans accent all remained strong until the very end. Although we rejoice her homecoming, she will be sorely missed.
