

Family will be receiving friends on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 12 until 2 p.m., at Carbon Hill Methodist Church, with Kilgore-Green Funeral Home directing. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m., at the Carbon Hill Methodist Church, with burial at Carbon Hill Memorial Cemetery. Chad Beavers will officiate.
Ms. Files graduated from Carbon Hill High School attending a local college right after. She married the love of her life, Joseph F. Files. After retiring from 18 years of Postal Services, she moved back to Carbon Hill where she catered before opening her own restaurant, Mava’s Kitchen. She was a long-standing member of the United Methodist Church, a member of the American Legion, a member of the Library Board, and spent years of service working in the Safe Harbor Mission store with longtime friend, Billy Ruth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Files; daughter, Mary Jo Files; son, Kenneth Files; parents, Lloyd B. and Mary Margarite Pearce; sister, Lucille Velner and brother, William “Bubba” Pearce.
She was survived by her daughters, Sharon Vickery, Margaret “Nan” Butler and Martha Tucker; sons, Robert “Bob” Files and Joseph T. Files (Kim); grandchildren, Jeremy Hendrick, Kevin Hendrick, Scott Hendrick, Rebecca Tucker, James Fedigan, Lauren Fedigan and Sharon Hightower; five great grandchildren; sisters, Sara Soper and Elaine McGough and sister in law Carolyn Files and a host of nieces, nephews, many more family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Josh Reynolds, Kevin Hendrick and Scott Hendrick.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Parick McNutt, Dusty Kirkland and Todd Queen.
