Mary Lou Pate

At mid morning on Monday August 18th, Mary Lou Pate from Boldo was called home to meet her Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.

Family will be receiving friends on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 10 until 11 a.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 11 a.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial at Scott Cemetery. Bro. Don Graham will officiate.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Della Howell Clark, her grandparents who raised her, Ben and Louella Howell, her brother Jovis Lee (Tobby) Clark and brother in law, Carlton Patilla. Mary Lou was also preceded in death by four days by her loving husband Estal Pate with whom she shared a long and happy marriage since December 22, 1954 (70 years).

Mary Lou is the much loved Mom of her son, Jeffrey Estal Pate and daughter Cathy Burdette Pate and her grandkitty, Miranda Grace as well as her brother, Franklin Clark and sister, Ruth Patilla. She also leaves behind sister in laws who love her, Barbara Johnston, Sheryl Wakefield, Bernice Pate and Betty Pate. She was the special aunt to several nieces and nephews.

Family and her home were most important to Mom. she was lovingly cared for by her husband, Estal for years following a debilitating medical issue and always worked to have a gorgeous yard and garden. Mom was a very skilled cook and made many delicious meals for family and friends. In early years when her son Jeff was a baby she worked as a florist and always had a talent for beautifully arranging flowers.

The family would like to thank the medical team at Walker Hospital (Emergency Room and Second Floor Ortho) for their professional care and concern. Also we would like to thank Brother Don Graham and the pastoral staff at Eastside Baptist Church. Finally we would like to express extreme gratitude to Dr. Mark A. Parker, Birmingham, AL for additional years added to Mom's life.
