Mr. Merrill Rayburn Sherer

Merrill Rayburn Sherer, 81, of Jasper, passed away Monday, July 30, 2018, at his residence.

Family will receive friends Friday, August 3, 2018, from 6 until 8 p.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 4, 2018, at 1 p.m. in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial following at Walker Memory Gardens. Rick Sherer will officiate.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mabelene Rodgers Sherer; parents, Jessie Mae Shubert Sherer and Lawrence Sherer; siblings, Harold Sherer, Kenneth Sherer, Leon Sherer, Jon Andrew Sherer, Lew Sherer, and Evelyn Bankston Evans; nephew, James Davis; and great-niece, Kaitlin Mitchell Bright.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Shumate Sherer; children, John Sherer (Jan), Terry Sherer (Sherrie) and Phillip Sherer, all of Jasper, Matt Sherer (Nita) of Whispering Pines, N.C., and Debbie Johnson Sherer of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; niece, Tiffanye Mitchell; nephew, Jeff Davis; great-niece, Lia Waldrep; great-great-nieces, Piper Waldrep and Zoey-Kait Mitchell; great-great-nephew, Gray Bright; sisters, Rosalyn Bradley and Louise “Bootsie” Berry; family friend, Sonya Beasley Bryant; and a host of friends.
