Bobbye Michelle Aaron, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on September 20, 2025, at Baptist Health Princeton Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, from complications following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Family will receive friends on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will follow at 7 p.m. Jim Smothers and Greg Tinker will officiate.
She was born on September 18, 1958, in Jasper, Alabama. Michelle, as she was affectionately known, was cherished by everyone who knew her. She married her childhood sweetheart, Dane Aaron, and together they shared nearly 50 years of love, laughter, and devotion. In her youth, she found joy as a majorette and was a featured twirler in the majorette line for the Pride of Walker County, Curry High School Marching Band. She became widely known for her unforgettable fire-twirling performances, which delighted all who saw her. Her radiant personality and love for people meant she never met a stranger. To her family and countless friends, she was “Mom,” “Aunt Chelle,” and, most endearingly, “Nanny.” Her impact was so profound that many honored her by naming their children after her.
Throughout her life, Michelle faced some of the most terrifying challenges imaginable — from breast cancer to Guillain-Barré syndrome, to lung cancer, and so many other battles that most of us could hardly imagine. These struggles terrified those who loved her, and perhaps at times they frightened her too, but she never let it show. She kept smiling, remained brave, strong, and beautiful, and marched on like a true champion. If nothing else, she was the embodiment of a strong woman. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Michelle’s “happy place” was anywhere surrounded by family, soaking in the sunshine, or relaxing at the beach she loved so dearly.
Michelle was preceded in death by her step father, Larry Smothers; her beloved brother, Mikey Farley; her nephew, Jonah Farley; her niece, Kiley Smothers; and her beloved dog, Ginger, who was by her side for over 20 years.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Dane Aaron; her children, Kelly Alexander (Chad), Krissy Kennedy (Derek), Kory Aaron (Annie), and Emily Aaron; and her grandchildren, Tristan Alexander, Peyton Alexander (Hannah), Ella Taylor, Ean Taylor, Mila Kennedy, Darby Aaron, Dane Aaron, and Lillian Smith.
She is also survived by her father, Bobby Farley; her mother, Miriam Smothers; her brother, Jim Smothers (Stacy); and her sisters, Jan Hill, Melissa Farley, and Caryn Farley. In addition, she leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.
She will be remembered for her courage, her laughter, her warm spirit, and her boundless love for others. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with the loved ones who went before her.
