Mitchell Lee Hanes, 79, of Gardendale, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2025, at his residence. Family will receive friends Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Walker Memory Gardens.
Mitchell was the owner of Hanes Chevron for almost 20 years. He was born and raised in Jasper. Graduate of Walker High School. He also worked for General Electric in the nuclear field in Mexico and the U.S.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Stella D. Hanes and grandparents, CH and Loudella Dailey, and Cora and Tom Justice.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Hanes; children, Jeffrey Hanes and Michael Hanes; stepson Ty Tyra; stepdaughter Kristyn Hanvey; grandchildren, Emerson Willis, Brandy Speakman, Josie Brumlow, and Jeffery Hanes; and siblings, Terry Hanes and Janis Hanes DeBlieux.
