Dec. 3, 1919—May 16, 2016 Richard Solomon Posner, a long-time resident of Trussville and recently of Jasper, Alabama, age 96, went home to be with his Lord Monday, May 16, 2016, in Jasper, Alabama. He was a member of 76th Street Presbyterian Church/Eastminster Presbyterian Church where he served as Sunday school teacher, Deacon, Elder, and Elder Emeritus for many years. He served in the United States Army during World War II, Quartermaster’s Office in England, France and Belgium. He was honorably discharged November 1945 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Mr. Posner had a career as Purchasing Agent for City Paper Company in Birmingham, Alabama, until he retired. He enjoyed many years of retirement. He was an amazing man who loved his family, friends, church family, and made numerous lifelong friends. In every season of life he found joy and happiness. He was a kind, sweet-natured man who loved listening to and playing music. He will be greatly missed by those who love him. Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Evelyn Keel Posner; his parents, Herman Julius and Nannie Pauline Lee Posner; brothers, Herman Julius Posner II and Edward Lee Posner; and his sisters, Anna Elizabeth Posner, Nancy Lee Posner Crenshaw, Helene Reich-Lacher Posner Crenshaw, and Katherine Almina Posner Camp. Mr. Posner is survived by his brother, Tyler Josephus Posner (Barbara); his children, Karen Posner Nations (Joe) and Nan Posner Bishop (Raymond); four grandchildren, Ellen Nations Luparello (Michael), Tyler Nations, Brian Lee Bishop (April), and Rachel Bishop Ross (Lance); four great grandchildren, Blane Luparello (Caitlyn), Logan Bishop, John Solomon Ross, and London Bishop. The family would like to especially thank those who cared for him while he was a resident of Ridgeview Health Services. Their kindness and attentiveness are so very much appreciated. A service of celebration will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016, with visitation at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. at Rideout’s Trussville. Reverend Scott Pierce will officiate.
