Graveside service was held on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at Oak Hill Cemetery, with Kilgore-Green Funeral Home directing. Levi Sides officiating.
Robert was born in Huntington, Tenn. He was a graduate of Freed-Hardeman University and Harding University. He loved Jasper and worked here for over 62 years. He was very active in the community and was President of the Jasper Kiwanis Club for several years. In addition to his full time employment, he filled in as a preacher for several different churches of Christ in Walker County. He and his family are lifetime members of the Sixth Avenue Church of Christ. His life centered around his Faith, family and church. His family was his joy in life. Robert was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Sally for over 64 years. He was also a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. He truly lived by God’s word and stayed faithful all the days of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Leon Williams Sr. and Thelma Brandon Williams; grandparents, James and Mrytle Williams, Milton and Telitha Brandon; in-laws, Grady Lee Taylor Sr. and Ruby Gilbert Taylor.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sally Taylor Williams; children, Angela Williams Sasser (John) and Steve Williams (Tammy) and Richard Williams; his precious and beloved grandchildren; Jonlee Sasser (Kendall), Taylor Sasser (Carley), Noland Williams (Ashley), Chad Williams, Walker Williams and Maggie Guthrie (Greg); great grandchildren, Jake Williams, Aubrey Williams, Ruby Williams and Duke Guthrie; siblings, Kate Bebee, Freeda Reid, Jack Williams, George Williams Jr. and Wilburn Williams and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Sixth Avenue Church of Christ of Jasper.
