Our beloved mother passed through the heavenly gates Sunday, the 7th of October 2018. Her loving husband of 64 years, whom called her "his Rosie," will miss her dearly. Rosa had a wonderful life. She grew up in Ruck, Germany, with her seven siblings. Before meeting the love of her life, she attended culinary school and was a wonderful cook. She met Charlie, an American army soldier, in 1954. At that time, it was not permitted for her to date an American G.I., so Charlie would take the train and meet her at her sister's house. After her parents met him, they loved him. They married in 1955, and what an adventure they took going around the world. Together, they had four children Joe, Helen, Marion and Sandra. She was more of the disciplinary and you had to watch out for the wooden spoon. She loved her Charlie, her children, her grandchildren and great grandchildren fiercely. We want to thank Southeast Hospice, especially Rhonda and Angie, for taking care of our beloved mother as well as her sitters who we could not have done without Pam Rhodes, Tina Strickland and Gween Robertson. In her final days, Rosa was at peace, comfortable and she knew she was very much loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Karolina Buttner; siblings, Antz Buttner, Joseph Buttner, Frida Dutthorn, Maria Horlebein, and Herma Brown all of Germany; and in-laws, Elenor and Raymond Blackwood.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Newton Blackwood; children, Joseph Raymond Werner Blackwood, Helen Williams (Tommie), Marion Blackwood Glidewell (Jim), and Sandra Blackwood Grace (Phillip); grandchildren, Thorsten Blackwood, Tamara Blackwood, Lena Blackwood all of Germany, Debbie Flynn, Tommy Lee Williams, Jr., Christy Williams Lotuff, Carolina Grace; siblings, Adolf Buttner of Germany, and Helga Russell of Texas; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
