A devoted wife, loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she lived to serve both her Lord and Savior as well as her family.
Thomasene was preceded in death by her husband, John “Frank” Dail Jr.; her son, John Stephen Dail; her parents, William F. Brasfield and Annie Lou Wright Brasfield; and her brother-in-law, Thomas Berryhill.
She is survived by her daughter, Jenny Ann Brasseaux (Jim); her granddaughters, Deanna Daily Misner (Josh) and Meghan Daily Larson (Mark); her great-grandchildren, Anna Caroline Misner, Sarah Kate Misner, Andrew Larson, Gabriel Larson and McClain Misner; her sister, Charlie Louise Berryhill; her nephew, Teb Berryhill (Mary), and their children, Saylor and Saydee; and her niece, Samantha Berryhill Moore (Trent) and their children, Cierra and Thomas Harley.
As a resident of Guin, Alabama, at age 15, Thomasene met the love of her life, Frank Dail, who’d just returned home from his service in the Navy. Shortly after her 16th birthday, they eloped, getting married on Feb. 29, 1948, and keeping it a secret for months. “They said we wouldn’t last,” she was known to say. “But we proved them wrong!” Their marriage of 69 years was her most cherished accomplishment.
For as long as anyone could remember, Frank and Thomasene enjoyed vacationing at Smith Lake. They'd camp every weekend at the lake on Sunday School Rock with family and friends, water skiing, fishing, and going to boat church. Eventually, they built their own cabin on the lake to live there permanently. In her later years, Thomasene’s favorite place to be was sitting on her front porch overlooking the lake, drinking her coffee, and reading her Bible.
Thomasene spent her life caring for family and friends. She was devoted to her husband, attended and served her church faithfully, and loved others well. Known for her bright smile and even brighter clothing with matching sparkly jewelry, she was quick to greet everyone she met, usually with a story or pictures of her family. One of her greatest assets was her gift for cooking. She enjoyed cooking Wednesday night suppers for her church family, and was also known for her peanut brittle and homemade peach ice cream. We, her family, rejoice in her eternal healing, and her reunion with her husband, son, and parents. We are rejoicing in her transition from her earthly life to an eternal one.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in memory of Thomasene Dail.
