Mr. Timothy O'Neal Banks

November 4, 1950October 9, 2020

Timothy O’Neal Banks, 69, of Jasper, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center.

A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Walker Memory Gardens. Following the Graveside Service family and friends are welcome to Crossroads Church of Christ to fellowship. Earl Barnett and Kyle Gilpin will officiate.

Tim loved his wife of 46 years more than life, Vanessa Banks. He was a Master Electrician that could do anything he put his mind to. One of the hardest working men you would ever meet. He loved and adored his 4 girls and 13 grandkids. He loved his sons-in-law but he accused them of taking all his tools (which they didn’t) because he loved to joke with them. His favorite thing to do was poke people with his cane, to see what kind of reaction he could get. He had the biggest heart and showed his family the most love every day.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ralph O’Neal Banks, grandparents, Johnny and Matie Nichols; and Clyde and Della Banks; son in law, Jeff Taylor; in-laws, Orland and Era Dean Scruggs.

He is survived by his wife, Vanessa Scruggs Banks; mother, Betty Banks; children, Farrah Alexander(Chuck), Stacia Taylor, Kaylen DeFoor(Chad), and Lindsey Waldrop(Chris); grandchildren, Morgan, Luke, Joleigh Alexander; Karsyn, Keegan, and Kobe Taylor; Kohl Kannen, Peyton, August, and Mylo DeFoor; Graham O’Neal, and Gracely Mae Waldrop; sister, Lynne Banks Brown(TommyJoe); in-laws, Salieta and Tom Stone, and Kathy Wheeler Scruggs; nephews and nieces, Kristen Lee, Courtnee Hicks, and Natachu Wheeler-Scruggs.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Alexander, Luke Alexander, Mark Blair, Chris Waldrop, Chad DeFoor, Kannen DeFoor, Kohl DeFoor, Kobe Taylor, and Keegan Taylor.

Timothy O’Neil Banks 11/4/50-10/9/20

Such a wonderful human being and role model. Loving Child of God , son, brother, Husband , brother-in-law, father, uncle, father-in-law, grand father, friend. Words don’t do him justice- except the ones he used in his own special way. “Momma, Where’s Momma?” (Watching old westerns on tv too loud) “what you wanna watch big feller? Put sumpin on.” “Where’s that chicken thang ?“ ( Momma always knew exactly what he meant) Him telling his story of when “big boy” (Jeff ) asked for “number 2’s) (Stacy) hand was the absolute best- “Which one we talkin bout?”
Mr. Banks went too young and too soon. Honored and a privilege to have known him for too short a time on this earth. Only fond loving memories of him and his chickens. Best project manager/helper ever. He’s a good chicken. RIP my friend xoxo.

My most favorite memories are when I met Tim coaching his daughter , Lindsey and my daughter’s softball team We really got to know him and the family after that. I worked with Vanessa at Curry Elem. We became like a second mom to our girls. I know any time we would visit , it was like being with family. Even though Tim wouldn’t always remember who we were in years gone by , we could say Alicia and he would place us. But regardless he always welcomed us into his home and seemed happy we was there. We will always have our special memories of him , his caring and loving heart for others. Special special man. Praying for each of you , love Jackie and Bruce Glover.
