Mrs. Veneta Jackson

Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Edward Jackson Sr.; her daughter, Shelia Jackson Gamble of Birmingham; her parents, Lima and Lawrence East; her brother, Larry East; and her sister, Betty Southern.

She is survived by her son, Carl Edward Jackson, Jr. of Birmingham; daughter Sharon Jackson Sides of Jasper; grandchildren, Jason Gamble (Michelle), Allan Gamble (Jill), Payton Sides, and Kaylee Sides; great-grandchildren: Hannah Gamble, Gracelyn Sides, Jantzen Callaway, and Madelyn Sides. She is also survived by her sister, Doris Harris of Marietta, Georgia, brother Keith East (Aggie) of Pensacola, Florida, and sister-in-law, Clara East of Jasper.

Her 70-plus years of being a Christian were lived out daily in front of her family, her friends, strangers she met, and her church.

She was a founding member of Memorial Park Church of God and has served faithfully throughout her life.

A private graveside service was held for the immediate family at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family extends much appreciation and never-ending gratitude to all the wonderful staff at Southeast Hospice and Ridgeview Nursing Home.

Memorials may be given to the Building Fund of Jasper’s First Baptist Church.
