

William Breckenridge “Bud” Long, born on August 12, 1943, died on August 22, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Whitfield Long and Emily Winslett Long; grandparents, Francis Musgrove and Stella Long; Benjamin and Kate Wallace Winslett; brother, John Whitfield Long, Jr. and nephew, James Gayle "Jamie" Dunlap of Lakemont, Georgia.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Freeman Long; daughters Brandy Long Hill, husband Chad and their children, Breck, Wilkes and Emerson of Jasper, Alabama; Winslett Long Watson and husband Justin and their children Haddon and Whit of Savannah, Georgia; sister, Stella Kathryn "Kit" Dunlap of Gainesville, Georgia; niece, Emily Whitfield "Whitney" Dunlap of Gainesville, Georgia; great niece and nephew, Samuel and Carol Kathryn Dunlap of Lakemont, Georgia and other loving family members, Rachel Rawls Long, Caleb Goodwin, and Lynn Gardner Wright.
William Breckenridge Long, or Bud as called by the rest of the world and his five grandchildren, started working at an early age and eventually put himself through college and law school at the University of Alabama. He went on to become the head attorney and vice president of Drummond Company. With much success in life, he always preferred to live a modest but charitable lifestyle. His dependable gift to his family was wisdom and advice on diligence, happiness, character, life, and love. These priceless treasures will continue to help his family lead a truly richer life for generations to come.

Graveside services for family members only will be held at a later date. James Johnson and Dick Freeman will officiate.
