

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Jasper's First Baptist Church with funeral services to begin at 2 pm,. Bishop Harold Kelley and Reverend Lamar Cox will officiate. Loving words will be shared by Reverend Dexter Guin, Reverend Art Werner, and Carson Roberts. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Douglas was born on February 17, 1929. He worked as a truck driver, owning his own rig. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1951 until 1953. He was a VFW member and a Lifetime Member of the American Legion. He worked as a Maintenance Mechanic at Fayette Cotton Mill, Superintendent of Fayette Country Club, and Physical Plant Director as well as Adjunct Instructor at Bevill State Junior College-Fayette Campus. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and traveling. He visited all but one of the fifty states and several foreign countries.
He loved the Lord and served as a Deacon and various leadership positions in Fayette Churches. He is currently a member of Jasper's First Baptist Church. Douglas was a loving, caring and devoted Husband, Daddy, Granddaddy, D-Dad and friend to so many.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, William Brack and Nota Velma Pratt Stripling, and Brothers: Dorwood Stripling, J.B. Stripling, Vernie Stripling and Phillip Dean Stripling.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Martha Kelley Stripling; Children Terry D. Stripling (Sheila), Eddie Lee Stripling (Becky) and Freida Stripling Roberts (Skip). Grandchildren: Sherry Stripling Williams (Michael), Chrissy Stripling, Whitney Roberts Childers (Joseph), Kelley Roberts Duncan (Taylor), and Carson Roberts. Great-Grandchildren: Noah Douglas Williams, Macy Katherine Williams, Faith Elaine Childers, Bennett Wright Duncan, Hope McBryde Childers, and Everett William Duncan. Siblings, Dennis Edward Stripling of Eutaw and Velma Wyonez Hartley of Tuscaloosa.
Pallbearers will be Skip Roberts, Carson Roberts, Michael Williams, Noah Williams, Joe Childers, and Taylor Duncan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Pumphrey, Paul Gunter, Mac Preston, Ed Lay, Don Frazier, Eddie Roberts, Dexter Guin, and Art Werner.
Kilgore-Green Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
The family would like to thank Walker Baptist Medical Center and Kindred Home Health/Hospice for their care during his illness.
